Osteopathy

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy involves the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of conditions. It assesses the body as a whole and involves assessment of; joints, ligaments, muscles and other soft tissues. 

A range of hands on techniques can be used within the treatment. These include, massage, manipulation, mobilisation and sports taping. The treatment given to each person will be completely individual and based on the outcomes of the assessment.

Your osteopath may also provide you with exercises and stretches that you can do in your own time and suggest methods you can use to control your symptoms yourself.

Soft tissue massage therapy

What is a Soft Tissue Massage?

Soft tissue massage uses hands on techniques to treat a wide variety of conditions. Treatment involves manipulation of the soft tissues, including muscles, to ease any tension, increase blood flow to the area and enhance the body's own healing mechanisms. 

Soft tissue massage can also help to prevent injuries from happening. This is a great treatment to have both before and after a sporting event to prevent any injuries and enable recovery. 

All treatments will be individual, depending on the symptoms presented.

You may also be provided with stretches and exercises to do at home, to help you self-manage your condition.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

According to the ASA guidelines, acupuncture is the insertion of needles into the skin and underlying tissues in key 'points' for therapeutic and preventative purposes.

Acupuncture has been proved to have positive effects in treating the following musculoskeletal conditions:

  • Chronic Low Back Pain
  • Acute Low Back Pain
  • Temporomandibular (Jaw) Pain
  • Knee Pain Caused by Osteoarthritis

Bethan trained with the British Medical Acupuncture Society in a course specific to Medical Acupuncture.
